Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Press Brake Operator (Sheet Metal) to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining press brake machines to shape and form sheet metal components with precision and efficiency. Your expertise will ensure that all fabricated parts meet strict quality standards and specifications. 1st and 2nd shift availability at our North East location. All employees must be willing to assist the Erie shop if needed.
Pay begins at approximately $16.50 per hour (base plus attendance incentive) and increases based on experience level and performance.
Duties
- Set up and operate various types of press brake machines, ensuring proper tooling and calibration for each job.
- Read and interpret blueprints to ensure accuracy to specs
- Document tooling and safe practices for Press Brake operations
- Perform in-process checks (required by the operator to maintain all required tolerances and quality) during each product run
- Operators will be required to maintain accurate parts and motivation on routine repetitive jobs.
- Read and interpret detailed blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications to produce accurate sheet metal parts.
- Willing to assist our Erie location as needed.
- Program CNC-controlled press brake equipment for complex bending operations, utilizing CNC programming skills.
- Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to verify dimensions and ensure quality standards are met during fabrication.
- Perform routine maintenance on press brake machinery, including tooling adjustments, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and ensuring safety protocols are followed.
- Collaborate with team members on fabrication projects involving CNC laser cutting, plasma cutting, CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, stamping presses, welding, and other machining processes.
- Conduct quality inspections throughout the production process to identify defects or deviations from specifications; document findings accurately.
- Operate forklifts and cranes as needed to handle sheet metal materials safely within the workspace.
- Assist in assembly processes when required, utilizing hand tools and fabrication techniques to complete finished products.
- Completes all required safety procedures prior to and during operations.
- During operations Operator will be required to maintain cleanliness of the machine.
- Communicates all production related items to next shift operators or shift supervisors.
MUST HAVES:
- Proven experience operating press brake machines in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Ability to lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs. on your own and up to 200+ lbs. in a team lift or with equipment assistance
- Ability to walk, bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, climb, stand for 10 hours
- Ability to work in high temperatures
- Ability to communicate needs and concerns in a timely manner
- Ability to read and understand process sheets
- Ability to hear horns, buzzers, and an intercom page
- Ability to wear proper PPE- safety glasses, earplugs, gloves, and steel or safety toe shoes or boots
- Experience operating CNC Press Brake
Qualifications
- Proficiency in CNC programming and understanding of blueprint reading with GD&T principles.
- Familiarity with quality inspection tools including micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and other precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to read technical drawings accurately and follow detailed work instructions.
- Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and setting machine parameters.
- Experience with hand tools, tooling setup, welding techniques, assembly procedures, and safety protocols related to machining operations.
- Certifications in forklift operation or crane handling are preferred but not mandatory.
