GENERAL DUTIES:
To maintain and repair district and school building computers and support hardware.
NATURE OF WORK:
An individual in this class works as the senior or lead technician at the system level. This employee performs skilled, supervisory, and managerial work in directing the activities of Level I and II Technology Technicians. This work included repair and maintenance of all technology-related equipment as well as technical support for all technology-related systems. This employee is responsible for the maintenance and reliability of workstations that other Technology Technicians cannot fix. The Technology Technician III serves as the point of contact for vendor related warranty and service items on technology equipment including, but not limited to, computer workstations. The Technology Technician III help advise the Director of Technology on enterprise architecture, security, support, and maintenance issues.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from a two-year technical college or technical school with an Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology , or related area and two years relevant experience in the information technology field, or graduation from a four-year college or university and eighteen months relevant experience in the information technology field, or graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in Computer Science or Information Technology or related degree, two years’ experience in a network environment, supervisory training or experience, or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
Required experience with 1 or more of the following minimal criteria:

Current Apple Certified Macintosh Technician (ACMT)

Minimum 2 years working at the enterprise level with Mobile Device Management software

Minimum 2 years working with enterprise level data center management
-
Minimum 2 years designing, implementing, and maintaining IP Security Camera Systems

Minimum 2 years working with enterprise technology scoping and procurement
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Works with the Director of Technology and/or network engineers in the development and implementation of all technical aspects of the local technology plan.

Acts as a liaison for school technology procurement.

Assigns, monitors, and evaluates all repair and maintenance work done by the technical support staff to ensure reliability of performance.

Acts as technician for all Central Services including Central Services, Central Services South, Bus Garage, and Maintenance locations.

Supervises and/or performs the installation of hardware, software and related peripherals.

Assists with the installation of local area networks, file servers, and other related peripherals under the supervision of the network engineer.

Serves as the liaison to hardware vendors in matters related to warranty covered repairs and service.

Retains Apple Certification to allow district purchase and use of Apple Inc. support resources for all computers.

Maintains Google’s Admin Portal.

Develops and implements maintenance, deployment, and support procedures for iOS and Chromebook devices.

Develops and implements training for technical support staff.

Management, maintenance, and upgrade of servers as assigned.

Management of IP based Security Camera systems.

Attends classes and seminars to enhance knowledge of equipment and operating.

Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM RESPONSIBILITIES:
Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment and tools including computers, scanners, adding machines, computer software, computer hardware, etc. Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 5 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work. Must be able to lift heavy materials, climb ladders, access confined spaces.
Data Conception: Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable, functional, structural or composite characteristics (whether similar or divergent from obvious standards) of data, people or things.
Interpersonal Communication: Requires the ability to speak and/or signal people to convey or exchange information. Includes receiving instructions, assignments or directions from superiors.
Language Ability: Requires the ability to read a variety of correspondence, technical manuals, newsletters, trade journals, etc. Requires the ability to prepare reports, forms, training materials, system documentation, etc. using prescribed formats and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style. Requires the ability to speak to people with poise, voice control and confidence.
Intelligence: Requires the ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form; and to deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to give oral and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in a variety of technical or professional languages including computer terminology.
Numerical Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize mathematical formulas; to add and subtract; multiply and divide; utilize decimals and percentages; understand and apply the theories of algebra and geometry.
Form/Spatial Aptitude: Requires the ability to inspect items for proper length, width and shape.
Motor Coordination: Requires the ability to coordinate hands and eyes rapidly and accurately in using computer equipment.
Manual Dexterity: Requires the ability to handle a variety of items such as computer equipment. Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.
Color Discrimination: Requires the ability to differentiate between colors and shades of color.
Interpersonal Temperament: Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with persons acting under stress.
Physical Communication: Requires the ability to talk and hear: (Talking: expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words. Hearing: perceiving nature of sounds by ear.) Must be able to communicate via telephone.
