Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented CAD Designer to join our dynamic engineering and design team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating precise and comprehensive technical drawings, 3D models, and schematics that support the development of mechanical systems, building projects, and product designs. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience with a variety of CAD software tools, mechanical drafting standards, and building information modeling (BIM) techniques. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to innovative projects across multiple industries while advancing your expertise in CAD design and engineering documentation.
Duties
- Develop detailed 2D CAD drawings and schematics for mechanical systems, piping, instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and system layouts using AutoCAD, MicroStation, Revit, or similar CAD software.
- Create accurate 3D models for product design, assembly visualization, and structural components utilizing SolidWorks, Creo, Autodesk Inventor, or Pro/ENGINEER.
- Collaborate with engineers and project managers to interpret design specifications and translate them into precise technical documentation.
- Apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards to ensure manufacturing and assembly accuracy.
- Generate construction documents, BIM models, and CAD documentation compliant with ASME codes & standards.
- Assist in the review of schematics, P&IDs, and system designs for consistency and accuracy.
- Support the integration of CAD models with PDM (Product Data Management) software for version control and data management.
- Conduct 3D CAD modeling for product development including assembly simulations and FEA (Finite Element Analysis) when necessary.
- Prepare technical reports, technical writing documents, and visual presentations including 2D animations.
- Participate in design reviews, provide feedback on mechanical design concepts, and ensure adherence to project deadlines.
Experience
- Proven experience as a CAD Designer or Mechanical Drafter within engineering or construction environments.
- Proficiency in a broad range of CAD software including AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, SolidWorks, Creo, Autodesk Inventor, and Pro/ENGINEER.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical drafting principles as well as building information modeling (BIM) tools.
- Familiarity with piping systems design, P&IDs, schematics, and system layout documentation.
- Experience working with ASME codes & standards related to mechanical design and fabrication.
- Understanding of GD&T principles for manufacturing precision.
- Knowledge of FEA techniques for structural analysis is a plus.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately while maintaining high attention to detail.
- Construction experience or familiarity with construction documentation is advantageous.
- Excellent technical writing skills complemented by the ability to produce clear visual representations through 2D animation or detailed schematics.
This role is ideal for candidates committed to precision engineering design who thrive in collaborative environments. We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds who are eager to contribute their expertise in CAD modeling and drafting to innovative projects worldwide.
