Marine Service Writer

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and organized Service Writer to be the link between our customers and our full-service boatyard team. You will manage the flow of work through our service department — covering mechanical repairs, engine work, fiberglass, detailing, and more — while keeping customers informed and satisfied every step of the way.
What You'll Do
- Greet customers and listen to their service needs
- Write up accurate and detailed work orders for all service requests
- Coordinate with technicians to schedule and prioritize work
- Provide customers with estimates and keep them updated on progress
- Review completed work orders and communicate final costs to customers
- Ensure jobs are completed on time and to the customer's satisfaction
- Maintain organized service records and documentation
- Assist with ordering parts and coordinating with the parts department
- Manage the day-to-day flow of the service department
What We're Looking For
- Knowledge of marine engines, systems, and boatyard services — mechanical, fiberglass, and detailing
- Previous experience as a service writer, service advisor, or in a boatyard service department preferred
- Strong communication skills — able to explain technical work clearly to customers
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple jobs at once
- Customer-focused with a professional and friendly attitude
- Detail-oriented when writing estimates, work orders, and service records
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to keep things moving in a busy environment
