The job of ECEAP assistant teacher is done for the purpose of assisting the lead teacher in providing quality, comprehensive child development services to preschool children and their families and encouraging parental involvement in educational planning, goal setting, and center activities.
This position reports to the director of the Center for Teaching and Learning Birth-Grade 12 and the lead ECEAP teacher.
This position is eight hours per day, Monday - Friday following the typical school calendar. This position is housed in Summit Valley School District.
SKILLS are required to perform multiple, non-technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include:

applying pertinent policies, regulations, and laws,

planning and managing activities, preparing and maintaining accurate records, and
-
operating standard office equipment including pertinent software applications.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percentages, and ratios, read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and present information to others, and understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions.
Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes:-

ABILITY is required to schedule activities, collate data, and use basic, job-related equipment. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals and groups and work with similar types of data. In working with others, problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data may require independent interpretation.

Responsibility
Responsibilities include working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods, directing other persons within a small work unit, and operating within a defined budget. Utilization of some resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to impact the agency's services.
Working Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some climbing and balancing, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling, and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 15% sitting, 35% walking, and 50% standing. The job is performed under some hazardous conditions.

High School diploma or equivalent
The equivalent of 12 college quarter credits in Early Childhood or a current Child Development Associate (CDA) credential awarded by the Council for Early
Childhood Professional Recognition preferred
Continuing Education/Training

Must complete mandatory training provided by NEWESD 101.

Complete a minimum of 15 hours of in-service professional development per calendar year, such as STARS or other job-related workshops, classes, or job-embedded professional learning.

Provide proof of Mantoux Tuberculosis (TB) testing, treatment or immunity pursuant to WAC 110-300-0105(3).

Provide proof of MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) immunization or proof of immunity in accordance RCW 43.216.690.

Washington State Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) portable background check clearance (no cost).

WSP/FBI criminal history background clearance (if needed at employee's expense).
