Full time position for a crane operator/millwright. Will operate truck mounted 17, 21, and 23-ton hydraulic cranes w/ stand-up controls & telescoping boom. NCCCO cert. and CDL A required. Must be able to pass drug & background checks. Height work & some travel to Mid-Atlantic states required. Mechanical assembly & welding skills a plus. Prefer experience w/ rigging and equipment installation. Competitive wage & benefits.
- Drive appropriate crane to assigned job site and operate crane in cooperation with the assigned foreman
- Set up crane using site evaluation skills and OSHA guidelines
- Operate crane to lift, move, and position loads, equipment, products, and solid or bulk materials, using hoisting attachments, such as hook, sling, electromagnet, or bucket; observes load hookup and determines safety of load
- Rig equipment, machinery, and material using slings and other riggings gear as required
- Read and understand load chart (good math skills)
- Ensure that the safety of all persons in the area is the number one priority at all times, focusing on anticipating and preventing potential hazards, accidents, and injuries
- Control crane movement in response to hand signals or radio commands
- Resolve unsafe site conditions with project supervisors, including contractors and sub-contractors; report lack of cooperation to HEC authorities
- Complete pre-trip inspection of crane, completing the daily checklist; notify truck shop manager of defects or malfunctions
- Ensure that fluids are at appropriate levels for efficient, safe operation
- When not operating crane, actively participate in completion of project at job site, installing grain handling and feed mill equipment as directed by supervisor
- Complete other miscellaneous tasks, as directed by supervisor; learn new skills as needed for such tasks
- Assist regularly with maintenance and clean-up of job site work area for safety and job efficiency
- Assist with or do crane maintenance
- Assist with annual inventory process as directed by supervisor
- Be able to lift up to 70 lbs., but lifting equipment should be used whenever possible
- Be able to climb in/out of and around large trucks; climb ladders
- Be able to work outdoors for long periods of time
- Have current, valid PA driver’s license and CDL (Class A) with current physical certification
- Have current NCCCO certification
- Travel to out-of-town job sites and events
- Submit to random drug and alcohol screenings as selected by third party administrator
