Job Title: CDL Class A Delivery Driver
Department: Shipping & Delivery / Transportation
Reports To: Production Manager
Location: Sebring, Florida — Central Florida Deliveries
Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday, day shift; home nightly. Occasional Saturdays.
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (hourly), overtime eligible
Compensation: $22–$30 per hour, based on experience, plus benefits
Position Summary
We manufacture metal roofing and wall panels, trim, and related accessories. The CDL Class A Delivery Driver is responsible for safely transporting and delivering long-length metal roofing panels, coil, trim, fasteners, and accessory materials from our plant to job sites, contractor yards, distributors, and residential and commercial customers throughout the Central Florida area.
This is a hands-on delivery role. In addition to driving, the driver personally loads and unloads every delivery by operating a trailer-mounted crane (boom/knuckle-boom truck crane) or a Moffett truck-mounted piggyback forklift. Deliveries are frequently made to active construction sites with uneven ground, overhead power lines, and tight access, so precision equipment operation, load securement, and job-site awareness are just as important as driving skill.
Our panels are the finished products our customers see. Careful handling that protects the finish and the customer's property is a core expectation of this position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Driving and Delivery
- Operate a Class A F-450 — typically with a flatbed or extended trailer configured for long panel loads — to deliver product on a scheduled route.
- Complete daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections in accordance with FMCSA requirements; document and report defects promptly.
- Deliver on time and communicate proactively about delays or access problems.
- Maintain accurate records: bills of lading, delivery tickets, customer signatures, hours-of-service logs/ELD entries, and fuel and mileage documentation.
Crane and Moffett Forklift Operation — Loading and Unloading
- Operate a trailer-mounted crane (knuckle-boom / boom truck crane) to load panels and materials at the plant and unload them at the delivery site, including lifting bundles to rooftops, second-story levels, staging areas, and elevated drop points.
- Properly set up the crane before each lift: level the truck, deploy and pad outriggers, confirm ground stability, verify load weight against the load chart, and maintain safe clearance from overhead power lines and obstructions.
- Rig loads correctly using slings, spreader bars, straps, chains, and other approved rigging; inspect rigging before use and remove damaged equipment from service.
- Operate a Moffett (truck-mounted piggyback) forklift to unload material at job sites where crane placement is not practical, including mounting and dismounting the unit from the trailer, driving it on uneven and unimproved ground, and placing material where the customer directs.
- Perform daily inspections of the crane, Moffett forklift, rigging, and load-securement equipment; report any deficiency and take unsafe equipment out of service.
- Load and secure long, flexible panel bundles to prevent shifting, bending, oil-canning, scratching, or finish damage in transit — including proper blocking, banding, edge protection, tarping, and flagging of overhang.
- Verify load counts, colors, gauges, lengths, and trim items against the shipping ticket before leaving the plant and confirm the delivery with the customer at the site.
- Assist with hand-unloading trim, fasteners, flashing, and accessory items as needed.
Safety and Compliance
- Comply with all FMCSA/DOT regulations, hours-of-service rules, and company safety policies.
- Follow OSHA requirements for powered industrial trucks, crane operation, and job-site safety; wear required PPE, including cut-resistant gloves when handling sheet metal, safety-toe boots, high-visibility clothing, and eye protection.
- Participate in required safety training, toolbox talks, and equipment certifications.
- Maintain a valid DOT medical certification and comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing program, including pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable-suspicion testing under FMCSA Clearinghouse rules.
- Report all accidents, incidents, near-misses, property damage, and product damage immediately.
Customer Service and General
- Represent the company professionally with contractors, builders, distributors, and homeowners; maintain a clean, presentable appearance and truck.
- Communicate delivery issues, shortages, damage, or customer concerns to the shipping office same day.
- Keep the truck, trailer, and equipment clean and maintained; coordinate scheduled maintenance and repairs.
- Assist in the plant, warehouse, or yard with loading, staging, banding, inventory, and material handling when not on the road.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record (MVR reviewed at hire and annually).
- Minimum [2] years of verifiable CDL driving experience, preferably flatbed. WILLING TO TRAIN
- Demonstrated experience operating a truck-mounted crane and/or a Moffett (piggyback) forklift, or willingness to complete company-provided training and certification prior to operating equipment independently. WILLING TO TRAIN
- Current DOT medical examiner's certificate (or ability to obtain before start date).
- Minimum age of 21 (required for interstate operation). WE CAN GO TO 18 FOR INTRASTATE
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check, and FMCSA Clearinghouse query.
- Proficiency with flatbed load securement: straps, chains, binders, tarps, edge protection, and DOT cargo-securement rules.
- Ability to read and interpret delivery tickets, order specifications, panel/trim schedules, and basic job-site plans.
- Ability to use a smartphone or tablet for ELD, delivery confirmation, photos, and routing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience delivering metal roofing panels, building products, lumber, steel, or other long-length or oversized materials.
- Current OSHA-compliant powered industrial truck (forklift) certification and crane operator training or certification.
- Familiarity with residential and commercial roofing job sites and rooftop material staging.

- Regularly climb into and out of the truck cab, onto and off the trailer deck, and onto the Moffett forklift; climb, bend, stoop, kneel, reach overhead, and stand or sit for extended periods.
- Work outdoors year-round in Florida heat, humidity, rain, and sun, and on uneven, muddy, or unimproved job-site ground.
- Exposure to sharp sheet-metal edges, moving equipment, noise, and dust; safe handling practices and PPE required at all times.
- Typical shift is 8–12 hours; early morning starts are common.
