Duties
- Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes, standards, and safety guidelines
- Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, grills, slicers, and food processors efficiently and safely
- Follow food safety management protocols to ensure proper handling, storage, and sanitation of ingredients and utensils
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and kitchen surfaces throughout shifts
- Assist in menu planning by preparing ingredients and suggesting improvements based on culinary best practices
- Collaborate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation and ensure timely service
- Adhere strictly to recipe instructions, portion control, and presentation standards for each dish
- Support catering events by preparing large quantities of food while maintaining quality and safety standards
- Communicate clearly with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations during busy service hours
Experience
- Proven experience in food preparation within a restaurant or food industry setting
- Strong knowledge of culinary techniques including knife skills, slicing methods, and cooking procedures
- Experience with dietary department standards or dietary aide roles is a plus
- Familiarity with operating various kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Background in food safety management and adherence to health regulations is essential
- Previous experience in meal preparation for catering or large-scale food service environments is desirable
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with kitchen staff and serving teams
