We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our team. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring a welcoming environment while efficiently managing administrative tasks. Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, verify their appointment details, and assist with check-in and check-out procedures.
- Manage appointment scheduling using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
- Handle incoming phone calls and text messages with professionalism, providing accurate information and directing inquiries appropriately.
- Collect and process medical billing and collections, ensuring accuracy in documentation and adherence to HIPAA regulations.
- Review medical documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with clinical confidentiality policies.
- Maintain and organize medical records, including filing, scanning, and updating patient information within various EHR systems.
- Assist with insurance verification, coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), and billing procedures related to Medicare and other health plans.
- Support clinical staff by preparing care plans, reviewing documentation, and managing health information management tasks.
- Perform clerical duties such as data entry, typing reports, managing office supplies, and supporting overall clinic operations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical administrative support role within a healthcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of medical billing processes, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), and health insurance procedures including Medicare.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks is highly preferred.
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and electronic health records management.
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively via phone etiquette and in person.
- Ability to review medical documentation accurately while maintaining strict confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Prior clinic experience along with strong organizational skills in filing, documentation review, and office management is highly desirable.
