Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Lead Construction Site Laborer to assist with and oversee the installation and maintenance of erosion control Best Management Practices (BMPs). This hands-on leadership role focuses on products such as silt fence, inlet protection, and other erosion and sediment control systems commonly used on active construction sites.
The ideal candidate will work directly in the field, utilizing hand tools as well as machinery to accomplish tasks as directed by the crew truck compliance manager. They will guide crew members, ensure quality installation, and help maintain compliance with project and environmental requirements. In the absence of the crew truck compliance manager, they will be expected to temporarily fulfill the duties of both Lead Construction Site Laborer and Compliance Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and maintain erosion control products including silt fence, inlet protection, and other BMPs
- Assist with and oversee all aspects of product installation and ongoing maintenance
- Utilize hand tools and machinery to complete tasks as directed by the crew trucks compliance manager
- In the absence of the crew truck compliance manager, temporarily fulfill the duties of both Lead Construction Site Laborer and Compliance Manager
- Lead and coordinate daily field activities with labor crews
- Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to industry and project standards
- Inspect installed BMPs and perform necessary repairs or adjustments
- Communicate effectively with site supervisors, project managers, and crew members
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Follow all site safety protocols and environmental regulations
Qualifications
- Previous experience in construction labor, preferably with erosion control, silt fence, inlet protection, or related BMP work
- Ability to lead and work alongside a small crew
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
- Physical ability to perform manual labor outdoors in varying weather conditions (lifting, digging, standing for extended periods)
- Comfortable operating both hand tools and machinery/equipment
- Valid driver’s license (required) - we submit your license to our insurance prior to the interview
- Basic understanding of construction site safety practices
