Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Practice Representative to join our ophthalmic practice. The ideal candidate will serve as a vital link between patients and providers, managing administrative tasks, patient interactions, and medical documentation. This role requires strong organizational skills, familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems, and a commitment to maintaining HIPAA compliance. The Practice Representative will support the smooth operation of the clinic by handling patient scheduling, insurance verification, and other administrative duties essential for efficient healthcare delivery.
Responsibilities
- Manage patient intake and registration processes, including appointment scheduling and data entry
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including Medicare and other third-party payers
- Review and process medical records and documentation for accuracy and completeness
- Provide excellent patient service through front desk support, phone etiquette, multi-line phone systems, and clerical assistance
- Support office management activities such as filing, document organization, and office supply management
- Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate care plans and coordinate patient services
- Ensure compliance with health information management standards and confidentiality protocols
Skills
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and insurance verification processes
- Experience with medical billing, care plans, documentation review, and health information management
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), typing (10 key), and familiarity with office management software
- Exceptional patient service skills with professional phone etiquette and multi-line phone system experience
- Ability to handle administrative tasks efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Previous medical clinic or dental office experience preferred but not required; training will be provided for qualified candidates interested in developing their healthcare administrative skills
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations
