The Role
The Senior Accountant is the Controller's right hand and a key contributor to the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting. You will co-own the close, own the balance sheet, and take on the technical accounting that comes with a high-volume, multi-entity, multi-currency business. You will also work with a Staff Accountant and partner closely with our AR and AP supervisors.
What You'll Own
-
Co-own and drive the monthly close, ensuring accuracy and timeliness against deadlines
-
Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation
-
Own the preparation and review of balance sheet account reconciliations, resolving variances and escalating where appropriate
-
Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with US GAAP
-
Manage deferred revenue across billing that spans multiple periods, and high-volume prepaid expense activity
-
Serve as a key contributor to the annual financial statement audit, coordinating with external auditors and preparing requested schedules
-
Support international statutory audits, bank examinations, 401(k) audits, and other regulatory reviews
-
Absorb general ledger work currently performed by our overseas team as we consolidate that function domestically
-
Provide day-to-day coaching to the Staff Accountant
-
Ensure policies and procedures stay compliant with applicable standards; use accounting research to validate or improve current practice
-
Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, improve controls, and increase efficiency
-
Play an active role in our upcoming ERP implementation, including data migration, testing, documentation, and transition to new workflows
-
Develop a deep understanding of the business model to improve the quality of reporting and analysis
What We're Looking For
-
Bachelor's degree in Accounting
-
5+ years of progressive accounting experience with a focus on general ledger and financial close
-
Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP and the ability to perform and apply accounting research
-
Advanced Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, complex formulas, data modeling)
-
Experience supporting external audits
-
CPA license or active candidate status preferred, not required
-
A mix of public accounting and industry is ideal; strong candidates coming directly out of public will be considered
-
Comfort in an environment where internal controls are not SOX-level and are actively being built
-
Prior ERP implementation or migration experience is a plus
-
Multi-entity, multi-currency, or global accounting experience is a plus
-
Self-starter who follows through without being prompted, intellectually curious, and calm under pressure during close and audit cycles
A bit about us:
-
We are a privately held, founder-owned services company with a global footprint and multiple operating lines under one roof. Our clients are large employers across engineering, construction, technology, consulting, insurance, professional services, and the public sector, and the work we do sits at the intersection of hospitality, real estate, and logistics. For accounting, that combination is the interesting part: multiple entities, multiple currencies, high transaction volume, revenue that spans reporting periods, and a large prepaid expense footprint. There is no shortage of technical substance here.
Why join us?
-
-
You are the Controller's right hand. Direct line to the Controller, and visibility to the VP of Finance and CFO level from day one.
-
You get to build and be a part of modernization. The function is being modernized. The close cycle is already cut in half!
-
International exposure that grows. Our overseas GL work is being pulled into this seat, so your scope expands instead of plateauing.
-
Genuine technical complexity. Multi-entity, multi-currency, multiple business lines, revenue spanning periods, high-volume prepaid activity.
-
Technology-forward despite the legacy system. Company-wide Claude account, Copilot in Excel, and an active mandate to automate manual work.
-
Privately held and founder-owned. No PE clock, no quarterly earnings theater. Decisions get made by people you can walk to.
-
Real flexibility. Core hours 8:30–5:30 with genuine flex on either end.
