Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable, skilled, and compassionate Janitorial Supervisor to oversee and help with daily cleaning operations, manage inventory, and lead our custodial team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety while providing hands-on leadership, guidance, and support to team members, including individuals with disabilities.
Work Days are Monday- Friday 6:30AM -3:30PM
The ideal candidate possesses verifiable, advanced experience in commercial floor care operations—specifically high-speed burnishing, stripping, and waxing—alongside strong supply management skills and a supportive, empowering leadership style.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Advanced Floor Care
- Perform, demonstrate, and oversee specialized commercial floor maintenance, including:
- Floor Stripping & Waxing: Properly mixing chemicals, applying floor strippers, utilizing floor scrubbers/buffers, removing old wax coats, and applying multiple protective finish layers.
- Floor Burnishing: Operating high-speed burnishers and ultra-high-speed (UHS) equipment to maintain high-gloss finishes and restore floor surfaces.
- Oversee daily cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, restroom sanitation, trash removal, and surface disinfection.
- Conduct regular quality control inspections to ensure facilities meet established hygiene, safety, and cleanliness standards.
- Ensure full compliance with OSHA standards, SDS (Safety Data Sheets), and proper chemical handling/safety protocols.
Inventory & Supply Management
- Monitor, order, and track janitorial supplies, floor care chemicals, pads, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain organized supply closets and manage inventory levels to prevent shortages while staying within budget.
- Oversee proper use, cleaning, routine maintenance, and safe storage of floor care machinery and custodial equipment.
Supervision, Training & Support
- Supervise, coach, and mentor a team of janitorial staff, providing positive reinforcement and constructive feedback.
- Supervise and support individuals with disabilities, tailoring communication and hands-on instruction to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Train staff directly on safe floor machinery operation, task techniques, chemical dilution ratios, and safety procedures.
- Organize daily work assignments, schedule adjustments, and task delegations to ensure efficient shift operations.
- Foster an inclusive, respectful, and safe team environment that encourages independence and skill development.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience:
- 2+ years of commercial janitorial or custodial experience required.
- 1+ years in a supervisory or team lead role preferred.
- Verifiable hands-on experience stripping, waxing, and burnishing commercial floors (experience with high-speed burnishers, auto-scrubbers, and floor extractors required).
- Specialized Experience: Prior experience working with or supervising individuals with physical, intellectual, or developmental disabilities is strongly preferred.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of floor care processes, chemical safety, proper floor pad selection, and commercial cleaning equipment maintenance.
- Inventory Control: Demonstrated ability to track inventory, place supply orders, and manage facility supplies efficiently.
- Leadership & Soft Skills: Patient, empathetic, and clear communicator with strong conflict-resolution skills and a positive attitude.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 15-20 lbs, maneuver heavy floor equipment, stand/walk for extended periods, bend, and kneel.
- Background Check: Must pass a background check and drug screen.
Pay: $17.75 - $20.00 per hour
