Duties
- Assist the store manager in supervising daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and POS system management
- Lead and motivate the retail sales team by providing coaching, training, and development to enhance performance and customer engagement
- Oversee inventory management, including stock replenishment, merchandising, pricing strategies, and inventory control to maximize sales opportunities
- Conduct employee orientation sessions, interviews, and recruiting efforts to build a skilled and customer-focused team
- Manage shift schedules, ensure proper staffing levels, and monitor sales targets to meet operational goals
- Handle customer inquiries with professionalism using phone etiquette and excellent communication skills to resolve issues promptly
- Support payroll processing, bookkeeping tasks, and administrative duties to ensure smooth store operations
Requirements
- Proven experience in retail management or assistant manager roles within the retail industry with supervisory responsibilities
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage teams effectively and communicate managerial expectations clearly
- Excellent organizational skills with a focus on time management, multitasking, and operational efficiency
- Proficiency in POS systems, retail math, cash handling, and basic bookkeeping practices
- Knowledge of inventory management techniques including stock control, purchasing, pricing strategies, and merchandising
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities are highly desirable for engaging diverse customer bases
- Demonstrated skills in negotiation, customer service excellence, training & development, and operational management
- Experience with grocery or retail store product knowledge is a plus but not required
- Ability to perform basic math accurately and handle cash transactions confidently
