Inventory Control Specialist
Summary:
The purpose of this position is to support Maintenance Department needs through proper
inventory control and purchasing activities. This is accomplished by processing customer requests
for stock and non-stock parts, placing orders, receiving inventory, issuing parts to customers and
maintaining inventory accuracy through established inventory control techniques. Responsible
for accuracy in inventory control for warehouse operations including receiving of inventory,
tracking of issued inventory, cycle counting, troubleshooting and resolving discrepancies, and
monitoring inventory levels. Maintain the daily operations of the warehouse, and respond to
emergencies, respond to weather-related emergencies, and complete special projects as
assigned.
Responsibilities:
- Provide effective and responsive customer service by attending to the needs of the
customers by pulling and properly issuing items requested through the CMMS and
ensuring the warehouse counter is always staffed.
- Place orders with vendors for both stock and non-stock items, ensure vendor and
transport company have information regarding correct delivery location and acceptable
delivery times, track shipments, notify customers of delivery timeline including delays.
- Receive delivery of items into the warehouse and yard, verify delivery matches order,
input receipt of items into inventory using CMMS, add items to stock location or notify
customer of requested item and place in will call location.
- Manage inventory levels by conducting daily cycle counts, maintaining inventory in an
orderly manner, ensuring hazardous materials are identified and Safety Data Sheets are
maintained, and conducting regular visual inventory assessments. Manage inventory to
avoid insufficiencies or excessive surplus.
- Process requests for items not in inventory but covered by an existing contract or
purchase order by obtaining a quote for the items requested and placing order in
accordance with standard procedures.
- Participate in Snow and Ice Events by ordering and restocking items needed to
successfully respond to an event; participate in 24-hour staffing operations of the
warehouse during an event.

Qualifications:
Minimum:
- High school diploma
- 1 – 3 years’ experience
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to obtain forklift certification within 6 months of hire
- Fluency in English

- Experience in supply chain management, warehousing, maintenance, and/or public
procurement.
