Overview
We are seeking a Direct Support Professional to support an adult members who loves the outdoors. This role combines personal care assistance with active community outings — arcades, museum, thrift store shopping, fishing, camping, swimming, and other outdoor activities the member enjoys. You will provide hands-on personal care support as needed, transport the member to community outings, and be a steady, patient presence throughout. The right candidate is comfortable with personal care tasks, genuinely enjoys the outdoors, and communicates clearly and calmly in all situations.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal care assistance (PCA) to support the member's daily needs with dignity and respect
- Plan and facilitate outdoor community outings — arcades, museum visits, fishing, camping, swimming, and similar activities
- Provide transportation to and from all outings using your own reliable vehicle
- Support the member's participation and engagement throughout each outing
- Communicate clearly and patiently — adjusting your approach to meet the member
- Maintain consistent attendance — reliability is essential to this member's wellbeing
- Document service notes accurately and on time
Who We Are Looking For:
- Comfortable providing personal care — you approach this work with professionalism and respect
- Patient and calm — members benefit from steady, unhurried support
- Clear communicator — you adapt how you explain and engage based on what works for the member
- Genuinely enjoys outdoor activities (fishing, camping, swimming, hiking, etc.)
- Comfortable driving the members to community locations — transportation is part of this role
- Available weekdays and weekends
- Consistent and dependable — routine and rapport matter to this member
- Prior PCA, DSP, or direct care experience preferred
Requirements
- Must be at least 18+ years old with a stable living environment.
- Ability to pass background checks and screening processes required by licensing standards.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation that passes inspection if vehicle is over 7 years old
- Experience supporting individuals with I/DD, caregiving, social services, or related fields is preferred but not required
- Ability to complete daily documentation and medication records
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Basic computer skills (Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, or similar)
- Flexibility, patience, and a genuine desire to support individuals in achieving their personal goals.
- A commitment to creating an inclusive, respectful, and supportive home environment for all residents.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $30.00 per hour
