Position Summary
The Shuttle Driver is responsible for the safe and timely movement of trailers, equipment, and freight between company facilities, warehouses, plants, and designated customer locations. The successful candidate will ensure efficient trailer transfers while maintaining compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and transportation requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely commercial vehicles operate to shuttle trailers and equipment between designated locations.
- Perform drop-and-hook operations and trailer exchanges as required.
- Conduct pre-trip, post-trip, and en-route inspections of equipment and report any defects or maintenance concerns.
- Ensure trailers are properly secured and positioned at docks and designated yard locations.
- Maintain accurate logs, inspection reports, and transportation documentation.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, warehouse personnel, plant staff, and management regarding equipment status and delivery schedules.
- Adhere to all federal, provincial/state, and local transportation regulations.
- Adhere to Hours of Service (HOS) regulations and company safety policies.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment.
- Assist with yard management activities as required.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Valid Class A CDL (or equivalent commercial driver's license).
- Clean driving abstract and satisfactory safety record.
- Previous commercial driving experience preferred but not required.
- Strong understanding of transportation and safety regulations.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods while operating a commercial vehicle.
- Ability to climb in and out of truck cabs and trailers safely.
- Ability to perform vehicle inspections and secure equipment as required.
- Must meet all physical and medical requirements necessary to maintain a commercial driver's license.
Working Conditions
- Work may include day, afternoon, night, weekend, and holiday shifts.
