Manufacturing Engineering Intern
Position Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Engineering Intern to support the production of high-precision CNC-machined components at a growing company, with the opportunity for a full-time role. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving manufacturing challenges, improving processes, and developing technical skills across CNC programming, inspection, and production.
Key Responsibilities:
Manufacturing Engineering
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective actions.
- Support new product introduction from prototype through production.
- Review engineering drawings and understand GD&T.
Quality control
- Operate CMM and standard metrology tools.
- Analyze dimensional data and investigate nonconforming parts.
Production Support
- Operate CNC equipment as needed to support production demands.
- Cross-train in manufacturing operations to better understand manufacturing challenges.
CAM Programming
- Develop CAM software proficiency on multi-axis CNC machining.
- Improve machining strategies and efficiency, develop libraries and processes for state-of-the-art aerospace parts.
Qualifications
- Strong desire to spend time on manufacturing floor.
- Experience with hand tools and power tools.
- Basic understanding of CNC machining principles.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn new manufacturing technologies.
- Some experience with CAD software is preferred.
- Exposure to CAM software, CNC programming, or CMM inspection is a plus but not required.
- Must be a US citizen with passport or REAL ID.
What Success Looks Like
The Manufacturing Engineering Intern is expected to:
- Develop working knowledge of CNC manufacturing, inspection methods, and GD&T.
- Confidently perform machine setup and troubleshooting.
- Identify and implement improvements that improve quality, efficiency, or cost.
- Develop, improve, and document machining processes for precision CNC components.
Work Environment
This is a hands-on position in a precision machining environment. Approximately 75% of the role is spent on the manufacturing floor working directly with CNC equipment. The remaining time is spent on process development and documentation. There is the possibility of full time employment after a 3 month period.
Pay: $20.00 per hour
