Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accountant specializing in Finance and Administration to join our team. Duties
- Prepare, analyze, and interpret financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory standards.
- Manage general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely processing of invoices, payments, and collections.
- Conduct bank reconciliations and cash flow analysis to monitor liquidity and optimize financial resources.
- Maintain compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act), LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit), and other regulatory requirements through diligent internal controls and documentation.
- Utilize financial software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms for data entry, reporting, and analysis.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities to inform strategic decision-making.
- Assist with internal audits, external audits, and regulatory reporting to uphold transparency and accountability.
- Mentor junior team members on technical accounting practices, software tools like Excel (including VLOOKUP functions), and industry standards.
- Ensure accurate payroll processing and tax compliance by managing related accounting entries and reports.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in accounting or finance roles with a strong understanding of corporate accounting principles.
- Demonstrated expertise in financial concepts such as double entry bookkeeping, accrual accounting, debits & credits, and journal entries.
- Proficiency with financial software including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft or similar systems; advanced Excel skills are essential for data analysis and report writing.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance accounting standards such as GAAP; familiarity with SOX regulations is a plus.
- Experience working within non-profit or governmental accounting environments is advantageous.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial reports and perform cash flow analysis.
- Excellent attention to detail in account reconciliation, balance sheet review, and audit preparation.
- Effective communication skills for financial report writing and interpretation; mentoring capabilities are desirable.
- Familiarity with securities law, Wills & trusts law or estate law is beneficial but not mandatory.
