Kings Bay Y is seeking enthusiastic and talented Activity Specialists to join our growing COMPASS and SONYC after-school programs. We are looking for professionals who are passionate about sharing their skills while creating engaging, hands-on learning experiences for elementary and middle school students.
This is an excellent opportunity for teachers, artists, coaches, performers, STEM educators, fitness instructors, and professionals with specialized skills looking for meaningful part-time work.

Program Locations
We are hiring for multiple Kings Bay Y COMPASS and SONYC sites throughout Brooklyn, including:
- P.S. 329
- P.S. 91
- P.S. 170
- P.S. 52
- P.S. 206
- Kings Bay Y Main Site
- Kings Bay Y Avenue W Annex
Assignments are based on program needs, specialty area, and availability. Kings Bay Y operates multiple after-school programs serving elementary and middle school students throughout Brooklyn.
Responsibilities
- Design and lead engaging enrichment classes in your specialty area.
- Create fun, hands-on, project-based lessons that encourage creativity and active participation.
- Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
- Encourage teamwork, leadership, problem-solving, and confidence.
- Adapt activities to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Maintain lesson plans and basic program documentation.
- Prepare materials and maintain an organized instructional space.
- Collaborate with Program Directors and Group Leaders to support daily operations.
- Participate in special events, showcases, family nights, and field trips.
- Follow all Kings Bay Y, DYCD, school, and safety policies.
Qualifications
- Experience teaching or leading youth programs in your specialty area.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Passion for working with children and adolescents.
- Ability to create engaging, age-appropriate programming.
- Reliable, professional, and collaborative.
- Teaching certification or relevant certifications are a plus but not required.
Schedule
- Monday–Friday
- Approximately 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM
- Flexible schedule based on site assignment and specialty.
- Opportunities for additional paid hours during school breaks, professional development, and summer programs.
Compensation
- $50–$60 per hour, depending on experience, certifications, and specialty.
