Job Summary: The Spanish Teacher provides standards-based instruction that develops students' proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Spanish while fostering an appreciation for the cultures and traditions of the Spanish-speaking world. This position creates an engaging, inclusive learning environment through differentiated instruction, effective classroom management, and evidence-based teaching practices that support the success of all learners. The teacher assesses student progress, communicates regularly with students, families, and colleagues, and collaborates to support school-wide and interdisciplinary initiatives. Additional responsibilities include participating in professional development, maintaining accurate student records, supporting extracurricular activities, and performing other duties as assigned
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with the district Spanish/World Language curriculum.

Teach Spanish language skills, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing, while incorporating grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and Hispanic cultures.

Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs and language proficiency levels of students.

Integrate cross-curricular connections where appropriate.

Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations and provide timely, constructive feedback to students and families.

Use evidence-based classroom management strategies to maintain a safe, organized, and inclusive classroom environment.

Use evidence-based instructional strategies to ensure effective instruction, high student engagement, and continuous improvement in student performance.

Create opportunities for students to develop proficiency in interpersonal, interpretive, and presentational communication in Spanish.

Foster an appreciation and understanding of the diverse cultures, histories, and traditions of the Spanish-speaking world.

Encourage students to use Spanish in authentic, real-world contexts to build confidence and communication skills.

Utilize instructional technology, multimedia resources, and authentic materials to enhance language acquisition and cultural understanding.

Prepare students for language proficiency assessments, presentations, competitions, cultural events, and other opportunities to demonstrate their learning.

Communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators regarding student progress and classroom activities.

Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.

Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to support interdisciplinary learning and school-wide initiatives.

Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress in accordance with school policies.

Sponsor or assist with world language-related extracurricular activities, clubs, or cultural events, as assigned.

Qualifications:

Pennsylvania Department of Education certification in Spanish PK-12 required

Submission of pre-employment medical examination
