Duties
- Assist healthcare providers with patient intake, vital signs measurement, and medical history documentation.
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, including phlebotomy, medication administration.
- Support clinical tasks such as administering medications, performing basic life support (BLS), and managing pharmacology protocols.
- Conduct patient assessments related to physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology to ensure accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Manage medical records, documentation, ICD coding, and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Facilitate communication between patients and providers by answering questions, scheduling appointments, and coordinating follow-up care.
- Maintain clinical cleanliness and safety standards in outpatient clinics.
- Ensure efficient workflow by managing medical office operations including appointment scheduling and administrative support.
Qualifications
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential from an accredited program.
- Proven experience in medical office settings with knowledge of EMR/EHR systems.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD coding, and pharmacology.
- Experience working in dermatology, hospital medicine, urgent care or outpatient clinics is highly preferred.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications like phlebotomy or X-ray tech are advantageous.
- Excellent patient service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail.
