As a Runner at Aubergine, you are the final touch of the guest experience. You bring not just food to the table, but the energy and attention that makes every guest feel genuinely taken care of. Your role is essential to keeping the dining room running smoothly and the team moving efficiently. SHIFT IS MONDAY - WEDNESDAY 4pm-10pm.
What You Will Do
Guest Service & Delivery
- Deliver orders to tables accurately, promptly, and with a friendly presence
- Confirm with guests that their order is correct and respond quickly to any adjustments or concerns
- Maintain a warm, professional attitude in every guest interaction — you are a brand ambassador every time you step on the floor
Dining Room & Facility
- Keep the dining area clean and organized: clear plates, wipe tables, sweep the floor, and maintain a welcoming environment
- Restock customer-facing items (silverware, napkins, cups) throughout your shift
- Periodically check restrooms — ensuring cleanliness, restocking paper and soap, and flagging maintenance needs immediately
- Help clean and organize windows, glass doors, and customer trash bins
Team Support
- Communicate clearly and efficiently with the kitchen and leadership team to ensure order accuracy and speed
- Support the cashier and front team when needed, always keeping the guest experience as the priority
- Follow all food safety regulations and internal store procedures
- Perform other tasks as directed by the shift leader or manager
- Night shift Runners assist with closing duties, including cleaning tasks across areas as needed
Teamwork with a Customer Focus
At Aubergine Kitchen, we are all responsible for providing an excellent customer experience. In addition to your daily tasks, you may also be asked to assist in other areas during busy periods or downtime, such as:
- Clearing bowls and utensils from tables after use
- Helping clean and organize the dining area (tables, chairs, floor)
- Restocking disposable utensils, napkins, and bags at the self-service station
- Supporting the team or other departments as needed, always keeping customer satisfaction as the priority
What We Are Looking For
- Strong English fluency — required for clear, confident communication with guests and the team
- Bilingual in English and Spanish or Portuguese — strongly preferred
- Personal maturity and a genuine warmth with people — you are the kind of person guests feel comfortable around from the first moment you approach their table
- Confidence and poise — you carry yourself well, make eye contact, and interact with guests in a way that feels natural, not scripted
- Genuine friendliness and excellent customer service instincts — you enjoy making people feel taken care of, and it shows in how you work
- Ability to work at pace in a high-volume environment without losing attention to detail or warmth with guests
- Professional demeanor and composure when something goes wrong — you handle difficult moments calmly and with care - Organization and agility to manage multiple tasks during peak hours - Strong communication and teamwork to keep the floor running smoothly
Education & Experience
- Must be at least 21 years of age — this role requires personal maturity, composure, and the kind of confident, warm presence that only comes with life and work experience
- Prior experience in a guest-facing restaurant or hospitality role is strongly preferred — we are looking for someone who has been in front of people before and knows how to carry themselves with warmth and professionalism
- Must successfully complete Aubergine’s onboarding training program
- Food Handler Certificate required within 14 days of hire — company support provided
Physical Requirements
With or without reasonable accommodations, must be able to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Available to work 3–5 shifts per week, including weekends and holidays — Aubergine is closed on Sundays and on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the 4th of July
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift, push, and carry items up to 50 lbs (approx. 22 kg)
