Job Title: Student Ministry Worship Leader
Reports To: Student Ministry Director
Classification: Temporary, part-time, non-exempt
Job Description
The purpose of the Student Ministry Worship Leader is to create student ministry worship environments that exalt Jesus.
Primary Responsibilities The following is a working list and may be adjusted at any time by the supervisor:
§ Create a thriving culture of prayer and worship in our Student Ministry by helping our students learn to incorporate worship and prayer into their daily lives.
§ Plan and organize Student Ministry worship experiences in coordination with the Student Ministry Director. This would include selecting songs, scheduling and leading team rehearsals, etc.
§ Lead worship for Middle School and High School youth groups weekly.
§ Lead worship at Student Ministry special events (i.e. FNL).
§ Recruit, maintain and develop a Student Ministry worship team of adults and students.
§ Develop, coach, and care for Student Ministry worship team members.
§ Manage a consistent process for students and adults who want to get involved in the worship ministry.
§ Assist in planning for Student Ministry special events.
§ Other duties as assigned.
Relationships
This position will report directly to the Student Ministry Director, work closely with the Worship Pastor and Tech Director, alongside other staff and ministry directors, and will directly supervise the following:
§ Worship Team members
Meeting Responsibilities
§ Weekly meeting with Student Ministry Director
§ Weekly all-staff meetings (Mondays at 8:30 am)
Qualifications and Gifts
The Student Ministry Worship Leader needs to agree with Ventura Missionary Church’s Statement of Faith and agree to employment subject to and conditioned upon a lifestyle consistent with that Statement of Faith. Candidates must have a philosophy of ministry that is aligned with Scripture, with our Statement of Faith, and with our Core Values and Vision, and must be willing to become a member of Ventura Missionary Church.
Qualifications:
§ Successful completion of fingerprinting and criminal background clearance.
§ AA degree or vocational training, BA/BS preferred.
§ 2+ years of experience leading worship.
§ 2+ years of experience working with Middle School or High School students in a church setting.

§ Love for God and His church.
§ Possess a deep, abiding relationship with God.
§ Strong Bible knowledge.
§ Excellent musicianship and ability to direct other musicians.
§ Strong leadership skills.
§ Enthusiastic and engaging personality.
§ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to lead and organize adults and students into functional ministry teams.
- Problem-solving and conflict resolution techniques.
- Biblical qualifications for ministry leadership
- Ability to build and lead teams of volunteers
- Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Canva, Planning Center.
Selection Process
The Student Ministry Director will supervise the selection process for this position, in collaboration with the Associate Pastor of Discipleship and the Human Resources Director, with input from a selection team of staff and lay leaders.
Compensation
The compensation for this position will be determined based on established salary ranges for Student Ministry Coordinator II, taking into consideration experience and education.
Starting pay range: $19.32-$21.74 per hour.
Hours
8 to 15 hours per week, plus occasional special events on weekends and evenings. This position is temporary and will end on May 28, 2027. A typical weekly schedule would look like:
Monday: 8:30 am - 11:30 am
Tuesday (High School Youth Group): 4:00 pm – 8:30 pm
Wednesday (Middle School Youth Group): 4:00 pm – 8:30 pm
Appraisal and Review
This position will receive a 90-day review and an annual review from the Student Ministry Director. The reviews will be in a written form, using a review document approved by the HR Department. Each review will (1) set objectives and goals for coming year, and (2) review performance and ministry objectives from previous year.
Pay: $19.32 - $21.74 per hour
