Overview
Join our dynamic team as a Diesel Technician and become a vital part of maintaining and repairing heavy-duty diesel equipment, trucks, and industrial machinery. This energetic role offers the opportunity to work with a wide range of heavy equipment, including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery. As a Diesel Technician, you will utilize your mechanical expertise to diagnose issues, perform repairs, and ensure equipment operates at peak performance. Your skills will directly contribute to the safety, efficiency, and reliability of our fleet and machinery.
Duties
- Conduct thorough diagnostics on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and electrical components using schematics and automotive electrical system repair techniques.
- Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire service, brake repairs, suspension adjustments, and air brake system inspections to keep equipment in top condition.
- Repair and fabricate parts using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques to address mechanical failures or custom modifications.
- Operate heavy equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and other industrial machinery safely and efficiently during maintenance or repair procedures.
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical systems such as hydraulics, HVAC systems on heavy trucks, shocks & struts, and alignment issues with precision.
- Maintain detailed service records for all repairs performed and ensure compliance with safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
- Assist in assembly or disassembly of equipment components during major repairs or overhauls while adhering to safety protocols.
Experience
- Proven dealership experience or extensive background working with heavy equipment mechanics is highly preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge across diesel engines, transmissions, suspensions, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
- Hands-on experience with automotive diagnostics tools and schematics for troubleshooting complex issues.
- Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering tools, and other maintenance apparatus.
- Experience operating heavy machinery such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, or farm machinery is advantageous.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while working in various environments; familiarity with industrial equipment repair is a plus.
- Excellent customer service skills combined with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to team members or clients.
