Role and Responsibilities:
The Material Coordinator – Quality Lead is responsible for the accurate and efficient movement, staging, and control of materials within the production facility, while owning key floor-level quality and ISO system functions required to maintain compliance and operational consistency. This position is primarily a hands-on, floor-based role focused on supporting material flow and production operations. Quality and ISO-related responsibilities are integrated into the role to ensure compliance and consistency, but do not change the primary expectation of supporting daily operations.
This role is a key contributor to both production performance and quality system execution, with expectations of independent operation and consistent decision-making on the floor.
Material Coordination (Primary Responsibility):
- Accurately select, transfer, and stage materials based on work orders, staging lists, or system requirements
- Veriy part numbers, quantities, and basic quality prior to releasing materials to production
- Utilize WMS, scanners, or ERP systems to maintain real-time inventory accuracy
- Deliver materials to designated production areas to support continuous workflow
- Kit components and materials for specific work orders
- Maintain organization, labeling, and cleanliness of inventory and staging areas
- Assist with cycle counting and physical inventory activities
- Report inventory discrepancies, damage, or issues to supervision
- Take ownership of material flow to ensure production is consistently supplied without delays or disruption
- Proactively identify potential material shortages or flow disruptions and take action to prevent impact to production
Quality Lead / ISO Support Responsibilities:
- Own execution of ISO-related activities at the floor level, including material traceability, identification, and adherence to procedures
- Perform basic inspection and verification checks as required
- Identify, segregate, and assist with disposition of nonconforming material
- Support gauge verification and calibration tracking activities
- Maintain required quality records through routine material handling, traceability, and verification activities
- Act as a point of contact on the floor for quality-related questions, issues, and adherence to procedures
- Ensure audit readiness through accurate material control, labeling, and documentation aligned with ISO requirements
- Assist with continuous improvement efforts related to material flow and quality processes
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Work collaboratively with production, shipping, and quality teams
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required
- Associate degree or completion of 2 years of college coursework in a technical, manufacturing, business, or related field preferred
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or material handling environment, with demonstrated ability to operate independently
- Demonstrated ability to identify issues and take appropriate action within established processes without constant supervision
- Experience working in environments where material flow, inventory accuracy, and production support are critical to operations
- Exposure to quality systems (ISO 9001 preferred), with understanding of material traceability and basic compliance requirements
- Ability to read basic prints and use measuring tools to support verification activities
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies, inconsistencies, or potential quality issues
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and make decisions in a fast-paced production environment
- Working knowledge of ERP systems (NetSuite or similar) and basic computer applications
- Self-directed individual with a high level of accountability and ownership
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across production, quality, and operations teams
Preferred Skills:
- Experience operating in a dual-role environment supporting both production and quality functions
- Experience with measuring tools, inspection equipment, and basic quality verification methods
- Understanding of material flow, production scheduling, and how delays or errors impact overall operations
- Experience supporting or participating in ISO audits or maintaining compliance-related documentation
- Ability to identify process inefficiencies and contribute to continuous improvement efforts
- Experience serving as a go-to resource within a production or warehouse environment
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently
- Standing, walking, bending, reaching, and stooping (frequently)
