We are seeking a skilled HVAC Pipe Welder to fabricate, install, and repair piping systems for commercial HVAC, refrigeration, hydronic, and mechanical projects. The ideal candidate has experience with TIG (GTAW) and Stick (SMAW) welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and copper, and is committed to producing high-quality, code-compliant welds in a safe and fast-paced construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate, fit, install, and weld HVAC piping systems, including refrigerant lines, chilled/hot water, steam, and hydronic piping.
- Perform multi-position TIG and Stick welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, copper, and other alloys.
- Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, P&IDs, and shop drawings.
- Measure, cut, bevel, thread, and prepare pipe using appropriate tools and equipment.
- Set up and maintain welding equipment while completing proper pre- and post-weld preparation.
- Inspect materials, perform fit-ups, and ensure accurate alignment before welding.
- Conduct visual inspections, pressure testing, and leak testing to verify quality and code compliance.
- Install and repair valves, flanges, hangers, supports, and other piping components.
- Work closely with pipefitters, foremen, and other trades to resolve installation issues.
- Maintain accurate documentation and follow all OSHA, company, and job site safety requirements.
- Travel to project sites as needed, including overtime or weekend work when required.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of pipe welding experience, preferably in commercial HVAC, mechanical, refrigeration, or industrial piping.
- High school diploma or GED required; trade school or apprenticeship preferred.
- AWS Certified Welder or equivalent certification preferred.
- Experience with TIG (GTAW) and Stick (SMAW) welding.
- Ability to read blueprints, welding symbols, and technical drawings.
- Knowledge of AWS and ASME welding standards.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and perform physical work throughout the day.
- Must wear required PPE and follow all safety regulations.
