Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to support our Controller in a two-person accounting department. This position will be responsible for day-to-day accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, account reconciliations, record maintenance, and general accounting support.
The ideal candidate is organized, accurate, comfortable working independently, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Review, code, and enter vendor invoices
- Prepare vendor payments and maintain accurate accounts payable records
- Apply customer payments and maintain accounts receivable records
- Monitor outstanding receivables and assist with customer collections
- Research and resolve invoice, payment, and account discrepancies
- Reconcile vendor statements, customer accounts, and selected general ledger accounts
- Maintain supporting documentation and organized accounting records
- Communicate with vendors, customers, and internal departments regarding payment and billing issues
- Assist the Controller with month-end close and other general accounting tasks
- Support audits and provide requested documentation
- Perform additional accounting and administrative duties as needed
Requirements
- At least 2 years of accounts payable, accounts receivable, or general accounting experience
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting or ERP software
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with the Controller
- Manufacturing, distribution, or food industry experience is preferred
- Sage X3 experience is a plus
Pay: $30.00 per hour
