Job Summary
This position is responsible for getting customer orders packed right and out the door on schedule. You'll pull stock against a picklist, inspect it, then pack it securely with the right cushioning for whatever's inside. Fragile items get extra care. Labels have to be printed, checked, and applied before a box ever leaves the station, since a mismatch means a return two weeks later. The morning tends to move at a manageable pace, and things typically pick up once afternoon orders start rolling in. You'll weigh and measure packages as you go, keep supplies stocked, and set aside anything damaged instead of letting it ship. There's a lot of repetition in this role, but the day tends to move.
Responsibilities
- Pulling and verifying items against picklists
- Packing orders with appropriate cushioning and materials
- Print and apply accurate shipping labels
- Weighing packages to determine correct postage
- Keeping packing supplies stocked and organized
- Scanning finished packages into the shipment tracker
- Flagging damaged or mismatched inventory before it ships
- Loading completed orders onto the dock for pickup, and helping the driver when a shipment runs large
Qualifications
- You tend to catch small mix-ups, like a wrong label or missing piece, before they cause a bigger problem.
- Spending most of a shift standing and moving between stations is something you handle without much trouble.
- When the order count spikes in the afternoon, you're able to juggle several tasks and still keep pace.
- You speak up clearly and early when something about an order doesn't look right.
- Picking up new scanning tools or shipping software usually comes easily to you.
- Being someone the team can count on to show up as scheduled matters in a role like this.
- A change in packing procedure or label format doesn't throw off your rhythm for long.
- You stay easygoing with coworkers even when the packing line gets backed up.
Pay: $26.08 - $31.41 per hour
