Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Certified Payroll Manager (CPP) to lead our payroll operations with precision and integrity. Duties
- Manage and oversee the complete payroll cycle, including data entry, processing, and reconciliation using platforms such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, Kronos, UltiPro, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, and other payroll software.
- Ensure accurate calculation of wages, taxes, benefits administration, deductions, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Perform detailed account reconciliations related to payroll transactions, general ledger entries, and benefits accounts to maintain financial integrity.
- Collaborate with HRIS systems for employee data management and update records related to payroll changes efficiently.
- Conduct analysis of payroll data to identify discrepancies or errors; implement corrective actions promptly.
- Prepare reports on payroll expenses, tax filings, benefits administration, and governmental reporting requirements.
- Support non-profit accounting practices by managing specific payroll needs aligned with organizational policies and regulatory standards.
- Maintain thorough documentation of all payroll activities including journal entries, audit trails, and compliance records.
- Assist with accounts payable and receivable processes related to employee reimbursements or vendor payments as needed.
- Stay current on tax regulations and industry best practices; recommend improvements to payroll procedures for efficiency and compliance.
Qualifications
- Proven experience managing payroll functions using systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex or similar platforms.
- Strong knowledge of payroll management principles combined with expertise in accounting software like QuickBooks or other financial tools.
- Familiarity with corporate accounting concepts including double entry bookkeeping, general ledger reconciliation, debits & credits, journal entries.
- Solid understanding of human resources systems (HRIS) and benefits administration processes.
- Experience working with governmental accounting standards and tax regulations related to payroll processing.
- Excellent analysis skills with the ability to identify discrepancies quickly and implement effective solutions.
- Proficiency in data entry tasks such as 10 key typing while maintaining high accuracy levels.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in account reconciliation and financial reporting.
- Knowledge of non-profit accounting practices is a plus; familiarity with accounts payable/receivable processes is desirable.
- Ability to communicate clearly across departments; adept at handling sensitive information confidentially.
