Responsibilities
- Perform patient intake procedures, including recording vital signs, medical histories, and current symptoms with enthusiasm and professionalism.
- Assist healthcare providers during examinations and procedures within dermatology, internal medicine, emergency medicine, or hospital medicine settings.
- Collect specimens such as blood samples through phlebotomy and prepare them for laboratory testing while maintaining strict safety protocols.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), ensuring accurate documentation of patient information, medical histories, ICD coding, and treatment plans.
- Support medication administration under supervision, including basic pharmacology knowledge and adherence to safety standards.
- Conduct patient education on treatment plans, medication usage, and health maintenance strategies to promote active patient participation.
- Maintain a clean, organized medical office environment by managing medical records, sterilizing equipment, and supporting administrative tasks like appointment scheduling and insurance verification.
Qualifications
- Certification as a CCMA or licensure as an LPN with current state licensing.
- Proven experience in outpatient clinics, urgent care centers, hospital medicine, or emergency settings—preferably with inpatient or Level I/II trauma center exposure.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medical documentation standards.
- Hands-on experience with EMR/EHR systems and electronic health records management.
- Ability to perform phlebotomy and vital signs collection efficiently while providing excellent patient service.
- Familiarity with ICD coding and medical records management to ensure precise billing and documentation accuracy.
- Basic life support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications in emergency medicine or advanced clinical skills are advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage patients across diverse populations including geriatrics and pediatrics.
