Meritus Medical Laboratory is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Administrative Assistant to support the daily operations of the laboratory department. This position provides administrative, clerical, and customer service support to laboratory leadership and staff. The Administrative Assistant plays a key role in maintaining efficient office operations, coordinating communications, managing records, and supporting departmental initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive administrative support to laboratory leadership and staff.
- Prepare, edit, and maintain correspondence, reports, presentations, meeting materials, and departmental documentation.
- Answer and direct telephone calls, respond to inquiries, relay messages, and greet visitors professionally.
- Coordinate meetings, maintain calendars, and assist with scheduling activities.
- Maintain organized filing systems and departmental records in accordance with organizational standards.
- Process incoming and outgoing mail and communications.
- Assist with payroll support functions, timecard administration, staff scheduling, and departmental documentation.
- Gather, organize, and manage information from verbal, written, and electronic sources.
- Exercise sound judgment when handling confidential information and sensitive records.
- Collaborate effectively with laboratory staff and other departments to support operational goals.
- Participate in special projects and other administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of three years of administrative or office experience; additional education may be substituted for experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational, multitasking, and time-management abilities.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
Preferred
- Associate degree, vocational training, or other post-secondary education.
- Previous experience in a healthcare, laboratory, or clinical environment.
- Experience supporting departmental leadership and managing administrative processes.
