Position Summary
This is a full-time Attorney role. Attorneys serve as the primary representative for assigned bargaining units, providing contract enforcement, member advocacy, and labor relations support. This role requires strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to build trust with members, stewards, and employers. The ideal candidate is a problem-solver who can manage multiple projects simultaneously and is passionate about protecting workers’ rights. The role requires close collaboration with union leadership and members to uphold the mission of the Association. The role requires frequent travel to member work locations across the State of Minnesota. Other work can be done remote.
Qualifications
Required
- Licensed to practice law in Minnesota, or ability to obtain licensure in a reasonable amount of time.
- Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within assigned region.
- Remote work when not meeting at client facilities across the state. You must provide your own suitable workspace and internet access.
Preferred
- Experience in labor or employment law. Labor advocacy is considered an advantage.
- Experience in criminal law with the ability to apply those skills and techniques in employee defense.
- Experience representing public safety or public-sector employees.
- Prior experience with ADR and arbitration
- Training or experience as a union steward, business agent, or organizer.
Pay: $105,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
