Monarch Commerce’s mission is to accelerate growth across the women’s sports ecosystem through merchandise and retail. We are building something ambitious and looking for people who are energized by that.
The Role
We are looking for a sharp, proactive Merchandise Planning and Operations Manager to own the full lifecycle of product — from planning to purchase order placement through customer delivery and returns. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role where you will build and improve the systems we rely on every day.
Responsibilities:
- Place, track, and manage all purchase orders from issuance through receipt, ensuring accuracy and on-time delivery across our supplier base.
- Serve as the primary liaison with our third-party logistics (3PL) provider, warehouses and distributions centers — coordinating inbound receipts, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring outbound order fulfillment meets SLA.
- Manage split shipping logistics from overseas and domestic factories to multiple distribution centers, shop locations, and locations where samples are needed.
- Own the returns and return-to-vendor (RTV) process end-to-end, working cross-functionally with customer service, digital technology, and vendor partners.
- Monitor in-stock levels across all shops and proactively execute rebuys to prevent out-of-stocks and lost sales.
- Actively manage replenishment orders and inventory location to ensure investments are aligned with sales forecasts and financial targets and that units are right location to optimize sales.
- Collaborate with the merchandising team to build seasonal inventory plans and ensure planned receipts align with OTB.
- Develop and maintain demand forecasts by shop and product category, using sales trends, seasonality, and promotional calendars to anticipate inventory needs and inform buying decisions.
- Build and maintain reporting on key inventory KPIs — sell-through rates, weeks of supply, aging inventory, and fill rates — and use that data to drive decisions.
- Partner with the Shopify and tech team on inventory data integrity and system integrations between the PO management system, Shopify, and 3PL warehouse management platforms.
- Support new shop launches from an inventory and logistics readiness standpoint.
- Assist in building and owning adoption and implementation of a company-wide PO management system
Who You Are:
- Highly analytical - you live in data, and you catch discrepancies before they become problems.
- Detail-oriented without losing sight of the bigger picture- you hold vendors and partners accountable with precision and professionalism.
- A strong communicator who can distill complexity for internal stakeholders, provide action steps and solutions to senior management, and maintain productive external vendor relationships.
- Proactive and solutions-oriented - you identify issues early and bring a proposed fix, not just the problem.
- Comfortable building and owning reporting without a dedicated analytics team behind you.
- Energized by a self-driven, startup environment where processes are still being built - and you want to be the one building them.
Requirements:
- 5+ years in merchandising, inventory, or supply chain operations
- Retail background
- Experience working with 3PL partners and managing inbound/outbound logistics
- Experience managing inventory across multiple concurrent SKUs or shop brands
- Hands-on experience executing open-to-buy orders
- Demonstrated ability to build and apply demand forecasts to drive inventory planning and buying decisions
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
Tools & Systems Requirements:
- One or more 3PL and/or WMS software platforms
- Shopify
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and/or Google Sheets
- Experience evaluating or implementing a PO management system a strong plus
