JOB DESCRIPTION:
An employer is looking for a Patient Access Rep in the Emergency Room setting. This individual will be cross trained on Patient Access activities for patients throughout the Medical Center for Inpatient, Outpatient, L&D, and/or Emergency Services. Patient Access Representatives facilitate a positive patient experience by managing tasks such as insurance verification, benefits determination, and financial clearance. They handle responsibilities across Patient Access, Scheduling, Pre-Registration, Financial Counseling, and more. Strong social skills are essential for effective communication with patients and clinical staff in a demanding healthcare environment. This will be on site with one weekend shift (every Saturday or every Sunday).
Physical Requirements
- Comfortable working in an emergency department setting around patients and potentially seeing or being around bodily fluids
- On your feet, consistently walking and standing for long periods of time
-Working in areas under construction
- Comfortable working at a desk, bedside, or on workstations on wheels
Available Shifts:
- Day Shift (1): Start time anywhere between 6am-12pm (8-hour shift)
- Evening (1): Start time between 12pm and 6pm (8-hour shift)
- 5 days a week, everyone works one weekend day, with a set schedule either every sat or every Sunday
- You will receive your shift schedule at least a week in advance
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- 2+ years' experience in patient access registering patients
- 2+ years' experience with different insurance verifications and eligibility (IPA's, PPOs, HMO's, Medicare, etc)
- Experience with an EMR Software
- Scheuling experience
- Minimum of a HS Diploma
NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Experience with Epic
- Experience in a hospital setting or urgent care
