We are hiring Level I through Level III Traveling Structured Cabling Technicians with commercial voice and data experience. Candidates must be based in the Dallas–Fort Worth area and willing to travel nationally for extended assignments.
The ideal candidate has at least one year of commercial structured cabling experience and is comfortable working independently or as part of a crew. This position is best suited for dependable “road warriors” who can remain out of town for long periods.
Responsibilities
- Label, pull, route, dress, and terminate structured cabling
- Install Category 3, Category 5e, Category 6, and fiber-optic cable
- Install J-hooks, ladder racks, cable trays, data racks, and patch panels
- Terminate workstation outlets and voice and data jacks
- Work in MDF and IDF environments
- Test installed cable using four-pair testers, Fluke equipment, and other appropriate testing tools
- Document cable routes, test results, labeling, and equipment information
- Install voice lines for various types of telephone equipment
- Load and install workstations, laptops, and peripheral equipment as required
- Read and follow blueprints, plans, and project specifications
- Maintain a professional appearance and represent the company positively at customer locations
- Lead or assist crews of three or more technicians, depending on experience level
Qualifications
- At least one year of commercial structured cabling experience
- Knowledge of labeling, pulling, routing, dressing, and terminating Category 3, Category 5e, Category 6, and fiber-optic cable
- Experience installing J-hooks, ladder racks, and cable trays
- Ability to terminate workstation outlets
- Familiarity with voice and data jack systems such as Leviton, Ortronics, Panduit, and Systimax
- Experience working in MDF and IDF environments
- Ability to read blueprints and work independently when needed
- Experience using four-pair testers and Fluke testing equipment
- Basic understanding of BICSI industry standards
- Experience leading a crew of three or more is preferred
- Fiber termination and fiber patch-panel experience is a plus
