Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and accurate Medical Billing Data Entry Specialist to join our revenue cycle team. In this role, your primary responsibility will be processing and posting itemized Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and Electronic Remittance Advices (ERAs) into our Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of medical billing codes, insurance adjustments, and patient responsibility, ensuring our financial records mirror insurance determinations perfectly.
Responsibilities
- Accurately post line-item insurance payments, adjustments, patient responsibilities (copays, coinsurance, deductibles), and denials from EOBs/ERAs into the EHR.
- Assign appropriate diagnosis (ICD-9, ICD-10) and procedure (CPT) codes in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Maintain detailed documentation of billing activities, claim status updates, and correspondence with insurance companies.
- Stay current with updates in medical coding standards, health insurance policies, and billing regulations to ensure compliance.
- Balance daily payment batches and generate transaction reports to ensure data integrity.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient health and financial information in compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Discrepancy Identification: Identify and flag underpayments, overpayments, and insurance denials, routing them to the appropriate billing or appeals team.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical billing, coding (CPT coding, ICD-9/10), or medical records management.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare claims management processes and medical terminology.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems, and healthcare information management tools.
- Familiarity with medical collection procedures and health insurance policies.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to handle sensitive patient data securely.
Pay: $12.00 - $20.00 per hour
