Position Summary:
The Optometric Tech is responsible for supporting our optometrist in providing exceptional eye care services. They assist in performing preliminary diagnostic tests, documenting patient information, and ensuring smooth patient flow in the office. By acting as the doctor’s clinical support partner, they will increase efficiency, accuracy, and patient experience. This role requires both technical skills and strong administrative skills for accurate and timely documentation during patient exams. Our ideal candidate will possess an intuitive mind and strong patient-centric skills for this team-oriented environment. The tech position will need to travel to both our Colorado Springs and Castle Pines offices.

Performance Objectives:
- Ensure that all patient documentation is precise and updated in the EHR system, including treatment options and follow-up care. Documentation will include patient interactions, exam results, diagnoses, and treatment plans during the examination.
- Prepare patient reports
- Conduct with various diagnostic testing
- Set up and maintain equipment, ensuring all devices are functioning properly. Clean equipment between/after patients.
- Support the optometrist, ensuring the necessary equipment and supplies are readily available.
- Help manage patient flow and contribute to a smooth and organized clinical environment.
- Track inventory of lent equipment. Taking measurements and ordering of contact trials and lenses.
- Answering general questions regarding contact lenses, glasses, and other vision-related matters
- Assist with patient communications, answering phones, reminder calls and follow-up instructions. Send faxes as needed.
- Assist with scheduling follow-up appointments and coordinating patient care (scheduling therapy, phone calls, take messages, etc.…)
- Create invoices and billing. Take payments and close the drawer at conclusion of business as needed.
- Occasional clerical and janitorial work.
Capabilities/Key Competencies:
- Strong typing skills 50 wpm or higher
- Solid computer experience
- Knowledge of EHR programs within the optometry field
- Understands basic optometric terminology and documentation standards
- Demonstrates professional, patient-friendly communication with children and adults
- Prioritizes tasks effectively in a clinical environment
- Consistently meets expectations for timeliness and organization
- Maintains confidentiality and adheres to HIPAA and clinic policies
- Responds well to feedback and demonstrates consistent follow-through
- Represents clinic values through professionalism, empathy, and accuracy.
Education and Experience:
- 1+ year in optometry or healthcare experience preferred
- Previous scribing experience preferred
- Experience with optical dispensary and measurements
- Knowledge of Crystal EHR is helpful, but not required
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods up time
- Capable of lifting and carrying up to 25lbs of equipment
