Position Summary
The Center Director is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and performance of the assigned site, ensuring full compliance with all regulatory standards, funding requirements, and organizational expectations.
The Director serves as the on-site leader and is accountable for program quality, enrollment, staffing, family engagement, operational excellence, and financial accountability.
Responsibilities Leadership & Staff Management
- Supervise, coach, and evaluate all center staff
- Conduct staff meetings and performance evaluations
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and professional workplace culture
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention efforts
- Address performance concerns through coaching and corrective action when necessary
- Promote accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement
Enrollment & Family Engagement
- Maintain full enrollment across all classrooms and funding streams
- Monitor enrollment trends, vacancies, and waitlists
- Collaborate with Family Services staff to recruit and retain families
- Build positive relationships with families and community partners
- Address family concerns professionally and in a timely manner
Compliance & Licensing
- Ensure full compliance with all DHS licensing regulations
- Maintain Keystone STARS quality standards
- Prepare for licensing inspections, audits, and monitoring visits
- Ensure active supervision and proper staff-to-child ratios at all times
- Maintain audit-ready documentation and records
Program Quality & Educational Oversight
- Support implementation of curriculum and assessment systems
- Conduct classroom observations and provide instructional coaching
- Monitor child development outcomes and school readiness goals
- Lead continuous quality improvement initiatives
- Ensure classrooms maintain high-quality learning environments
Operations & Financial Management
- Oversee daily center operations
- Manage staffing schedules and classroom coverage
- Ensure classrooms are properly staffed and equipped
- Monitor site expenditures and budget alignment
- Collaborate with organizational leadership to achieve site goals
Funding Compliance
Ensure compliance with all applicable funding requirements, including:
- Head Start
- PHLpreK
- Pre-K Counts (PKC)
- ITCS
- Child Care Works (CCW)
- Other applicable funding streams
Data & Accountability
- Monitor enrollment, attendance, staffing, and compliance metrics
- Submit required reports accurately and on time
- Utilize data to drive decision-making and program improvement
- Maintain organized and accurate records
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field, Master's Degree preffered
- Minimum of three (3) years of leadership experience in an early childhood setting
- Strong knowledge of DHS Licensing Regulations
- Experience supervising and coaching staff
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred
- Director Credential
- Keystone STARS experience
- Head Start and/or Early Head Start experience
- Experience managing enrollment and staffing
- Bilingual English/Spanish
