Kennel assistant will most often work with dogs and cats, but may also occasionally care for other household pets. Kennel Assistants are in charge of the general upkeep of pet in their care and must provide individualized attention to them so they stay healthy and happy. We expect our team to treat pet with kindness and respect and seeks to socialize in order to reduce stress and manage their natural fear. You will be responsible to maintain a clean and sanitary environment for all boarding and hospitalized pets. Feed pets at the direction of veterinary health care team and pet owners. Ensure that pets are clean, secure, and comfortable so that visiting clients are confident animals are receiving excellent care. Provide social interaction with patients as appropriate for their behavioral well-being while boarding and hospitalized. Walks dogs multiple times per day, play ball, pet and connect with all pets. Report any and all changes in the pets health to the Licensed Technician on duty. Ensure all occupied kennels/cages are properly identified with cage cards, all pet carriers labeled with owner/patient information. Bathe and groom pets before release as necessary, at the direction of health care team. Record urination, defecation, and appetite information observed during cleaning process. Follows all safety guidelines. Takes immediate action to correct any safety noncompliance that could put an employee, volunteer, client, pet, or the organization at risk. Maintain a professional appearance, and professional and courteous attitude. Attends and participates in all required team meetings. A love of animals and the ability to anticipate their needs is necessary for this job. Hours can be irregular.
