CCWVa’s Mobile Food Pantry program makes nutritious food accessible to 6 WV counties experiencing food insecurity. The program serves households with incomes at or below 150% of federal poverty level. Driven by a profound commitment to justice, compassion, and service, Catholic Charities West Virginia (CCWVa) strives to alleviate suffering and address systemic issues contributing to poverty, homelessness, and other social challenges. CCWVa serves more than 25,000 vulnerable West Virginians annually statewide. We honor the gift of every human life, respect each person for who they are, and accept the responsibility to enhance the lives of those we serve. Between July 1, 2024, and June 30, 2025, the Mobile Food Pantry served over 1,200 people from nearly 700 distinct households. The desired impacts of CCWVa’s Mobile Food Pantry program are to make food more accessible to individuals and families who experience food insecurity and financial instability and to offer healthy options, such as low-sodium canned goods, to pantry patrons. CCWVa seeks to add a Mobile Pantry Partnerships VISTA who will build relationships with potential new volunteers and community partners so that CCWVA can respond to the food security needs of the communities we serve more effectively and efficiently. This VISTA position is a part of Catholic Charities USA’s Family Strengthening Program, a national intermediary project. As a member, you will meet virtually with VISTA Leaders and other VISTAs serving throughout the country, all focused on alleviating poverty.
Member Duties : The Mobile Food Pantry Partnerships VISTA Member will serve at the Catholic Charities West Virginia Parkersburg, WV office to expand community outreach, strengthen partnerships with external agencies, and develop sustainable programming for our Regional Mobile Food Pantry Program.
