Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Payroll and Accounting Specialist to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing payroll processing, ensuring compliance with labor and tax laws, and maintaining accurate financial records. Your expertise in payroll systems, accounting software, and HRIS platforms will be vital in supporting our organization's financial health and human resources functions. Duties
- Process payroll accurately and efficiently using systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, UltiPro, or Kronos, ensuring timely payments for all employees.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts related to payroll, benefits administration, accounts payable, and receivable using accounting software like QuickBooks or other financial tools.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws, labor regulations, and tax requirements by staying current on updates in payroll tax law and labor law.
- Manage employee data entry within HRIS systems, verifying information for accuracy and confidentiality.
- Prepare journal entries, perform account reconciliations, and support month-end closing activities with double-entry bookkeeping principles.
- Assist with benefits administration tasks including tracking leave balances, processing deductions, and supporting open enrollment processes.
- Support governmental reporting requirements by preparing necessary documentation related to payroll taxes and other statutory filings.
Requirements
- Proven experience in payroll management and accounting within a corporate or non-profit setting.
- Strong proficiency with payroll systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, Kronos, or UltiPro; familiarity with accounting software like QuickBooks or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of HRIS platforms and time & attendance systems to ensure accurate data management.
- Solid understanding of employment & labor law, payroll tax law, and financial concepts related to payroll processing.
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism.
- Excellent analysis skills with experience in account reconciliation, journal entries, and general ledger accounting.
- Strong attention to detail combined with effective data entry skills (including 10-key typing).
- Familiarity with governmental accounting standards such as non-profit accounting or public sector financial practices is a plus.
