About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Industrial Painter to lead coating operations for high-end custom architectural aluminum fabrication. You will be responsible for surface preparation, mix ratios, and application of premium direct-to-metal (DTM) coatings on custom structural aluminum assemblies, railings, gates, and architectural elements.

Key Responsibilities
- Coating Application: Apply Sherwin-Williams DTM coatings (and related multi-spec liquid industrial finishes) evenly across custom aluminum frameworks and panels.
- Equipment Operation & Care: Setup, operate, flush, clean, and maintain Graco airless/air-assisted spray pumps, pressure pots, and spray guns.
- Surface Preparation: Perform prep work, including degreasing, solvent wiping, sanding, etching, and masking aluminum substrate prior to painting.
- Booth Management: Oversee operations inside a large-capacity spray booth, maintaining clean air filtration, airflow, temperature, and dust-free conditions.
- Quality Control: Inspect finished goods for proper dry film thickness (DFT), adhesion, mil coverage, and run-free surface consistency.
- Inventory & Safety: Track paint and solvent inventory levels, enforce proper hazardous material disposal, and strictly adhere to OSHA/PPE standards (respirators, ventilation, PPE).
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: 2+ years of industrial, automotive, or commercial liquid spray painting experience (aluminum or structural metal experience preferred).
- Equipment Mastery: Proven hands-on experience using Graco airless or air-assisted liquid spray systems and pressure pumps or similar equipment.
- Coatings Knowledge: Direct experience working with two-component (2K) systems, polyurethane, epoxy primers, or Sherwin-Williams industrial DTM coatings.
- Attention to Detail: Deep understanding of fluid tip sizing, pump pressure adjustments, pot life management, and spray patterns.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy objects, stand for extended periods, maneuver large fabricated structures, and wear a full respirator/PPE safely inside a booth environment.
