Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Labor & Delivery to join our dynamic maternity care team. This vital role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to women during labor, delivery, and postpartum periods, ensuring the safety and well-being of both mother and newborn. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical expertise, excellent patient assessment skills, and a compassionate approach to maternal health.
Position: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Shift: Night 3x12 hours
Contract Duration: 13-weeks (possible extension)
Location: New Lenox, IL is 60451.
Start Date: 09/07/2026
Pay Rate: $2540/wk. for 36hours.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and assess maternal vital signs, fetal heart rates, and labor progress to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Administer medications, including epidurals and other analgesics, following strict protocols.
- Assist with labor management, including preparation for delivery and supporting neonatal resuscitation procedures when necessary.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical documentation in electronic health records (EHR) systems, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatal teams, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Educate expectant mothers on labor processes, pain management options, postpartum care, and newborn care practices.
- Utilize aseptic techniques during procedures such as suturing or catheterization to prevent infections.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations such as postpartum hemorrhage or fetal distress by implementing critical care protocols.
Requirements
- Valid RN license with current registration in the state of practice.
- Minimum of two years of experience in labor and delivery nursing within a hospital or birthing center environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in fetal monitoring, obstetric assessments, and neonatal resuscitation procedures.
- Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Cerner or Epic.
- Knowledge of obstetric medications, including Botulinum toxin treatment applications is a plus but not required.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations, including individuals with developmental disabilities or complex medical histories.
- Strong understanding of infection control standards and aseptic techniques specific to obstetric settings.
- Ability to perform advanced clinical skills such as suturing, IV infusion management, catheterization, and tube feeding when necessary.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively about labor processes and postpartum care.
- Commitment to maintaining HIPAA compliance and safeguarding patient confidentiality.
