The Quality Department Manager for Lily of the Desert Nutraceuticals is responsible for a variety of duties related to Quality, Food Safety and CGMP systems including physical inspections, HACCP program compliance and scheduling of line technicians. This position reports to the Vice President of Quality and monitors procedures, specifications, controls, test methods and results that impact the purity, quality and composition of product ingredients.
Successful candidates will possess 5+ years of experience with emphasis on food safety compliance and/or manufacturing of consumable products along with a strong knowledge of FDA or USDA regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and audit food safety, cGMP system and Food Safety Plan
- Represent manufacturing facility for 3rd party and regulatory audits
- Hire, Train and schedule both QC technicians and QA line technicians
- Conduct investigations, implement corrective actions
- Draft and approve related SOPs, documents, programs and other related materials which pertain to quality assurance, food safety and security.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- BS in Food Science or related field with minimum five years related experience with emphasis on food safety compliance or manufacturing of consumable products.
- Experience working in government-regulated facility (FDA, USDA) and knowledge of GFSI (SQF, BRC) implementation, standards and compliance.
- Knowledge of Regulatory Compliance including FDA and cGMP
- SQF Practitioners and PCQI certifications
- Demonstrated knowledge of principles and practice of quality assurance systems; sampling techniques and methods of statistical analysis.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills to work in a team environment
- Proficiency with QMS software, computer programs and ERPs
- Ability to sit, stand and move about the facility and regularly lift more than 10 pounds.
- Bi-lingual English/Spanish a strong plus
