Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Sped Aide Kindergarden/1st teacher to join our early childhood education team. In this vital role, you will support classroom teachers in creating a nurturing, inclusive, and engaging environment for our preschool students with diverse needs. Duties
- Assist lead teachers in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students with disabilities, including autism and developmental delays
- Support classroom management by maintaining a safe, organized, and stimulating learning environment for Kinder/1st Grade students
- Help facilitate communication using American Sign Language (ASL) and other visual supports as needed to enhance student understanding and participation
- Engage children in age-appropriate activities focused on literacy, math, social skills, and motor development aligned with curriculum goals
- Provide hands-on care for toddlers and preschoolers, including feeding, diapering, and supervising during playtime and rest periods
- Collaborate with teachers to develop lesson plans that incorporate Montessori or other early childhood educational strategies
- Monitor student behavior using positive behavior management techniques and document progress or concerns for review
Requirements
- Prior experience working with children in preschool or childcare settings, especially with individuals with disabilities or special needs
- Knowledge of childhood development principles, early childhood education practices, and classroom management techniques
- Familiarity with special education concepts such as IEP development and implementation
- Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, teachers, and support staff; proficiency in American Sign Language is a plus
- Experience working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities is highly desirable
- Demonstrated ability to plan engaging lessons that promote literacy, numeracy, social skills, and emotional growth
- Compassionate attitude with strong communication skills and patience to support diverse learners
