Duties
- Operate a wide range of radiologic imaging equipment including X-ray, CT (Computed Tomography), mammography, scans, and interventional radiology procedures.
- Prepare patients for imaging procedures by explaining the process, positioning them accurately, and ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the procedure.
- Implement radiation safety protocols diligently to protect patients, staff, and yourself during all imaging activities.
- Conduct diagnostic evaluations by capturing high-quality images that meet clinical requirements for accurate diagnosis.
- Assist with emergency room imaging needs and support Level I Trauma Center procedures with urgent radiologic assessments.
- Maintain detailed documentation of procedures performed, patient information, and equipment usage in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams to interpret images and facilitate timely diagnostic decisions across various specialties including emergency medicine, interventional radiology, and nuclear medicine.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic radiology principles.
- Proven experience operating diverse radiologic imaging equipment such as X-ray machines, CT scanners, mammography units.
- Strong understanding of radiation safety procedures and implementing radiation protection protocols effectively.
- Ability to perform specialized imaging techniques including interventional radiography and interventional radiology procedures.
- Excellent patient care skills with the ability to provide compassionate support during stressful or urgent situations.
- Knowledge of aseptic techniques when handling invasive procedures or sterile environments during interventional procedures.
- Familiarity with medical equipment maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure optimal operation of all radiologic devices.
