Pay: $25.00 – $30.00 per hour (based on experience)
Job Summary
Lemedix NorCal is seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to join our laboratory team. The MLT will perform clinical laboratory testing and technical procedures while ensuring compliance with laboratory policies, regulatory requirements, and quality standards. This position works closely with Clinical Laboratory Scientists (CLS) and laboratory leadership to support accurate, timely, and reliable patient test results.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform clinical laboratory procedures in accordance with established laboratory protocols, regulatory requirements, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Adhere to all laboratory requirements for specimen collection, handling, processing, labeling, transportation, storage, and preservation.
- Prepare, store, and manage reagents, controls, and laboratory supplies according to approved procedures.
- Perform assigned laboratory testing procedures accurately and efficiently under appropriate supervision.
- Assist CLS personnel with technical laboratory procedures, including:
- Specimen processing, storage, and retrieval.
- Preparation of patient worksheets and laboratory documentation.
- Pipetting and aliquoting reagents and patient specimens.
- Operation of automated and robotic laboratory systems.
- Downloading and preparing data files for review and analysis.
- Perform and document quality control procedures according to laboratory standards.
- Maintain accurate patient records, test results, proficiency testing documentation, and regulatory records.
- Maintain adequate inventory levels of reagents, consumables, and laboratory supplies.
- Assist with preventive maintenance, calibration, and performance checks of laboratory equipment.
- Safely handle and dispose of expired reagents, specimens, and hazardous waste according to approved safety procedures.
- Assist with troubleshooting testing issues and instrument concerns under supervision.
- Support laboratory workflow improvements to enhance turnaround time, accuracy, and operational efficiency.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant laboratory environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support overall laboratory operations.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Active California Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) License required.
- Associate degree or Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field required.
- Previous clinical laboratory experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, specimen processing, quality control, and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to follow detailed protocols and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS).
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work effectively under the direction of licensed laboratory personnel as required by regulatory standards.
