As a Carpet Helper/Installer, you will assist skilled installers in preparing, installing, and finishing carpets and other flooring materials across residential and commercial projects. This position offers hands-on experience in construction, carpentry, and flooring installation, providing a rewarding opportunity to develop valuable skills while contributing to beautiful, functional spaces.
Responsibilities
- Support the installation team by preparing work areas, including moving furniture and clearing surfaces for carpet installation
- Assist with measuring, cutting, and fitting carpet materials according to project specifications
- Operate hand tools such as pry bars, knives, tape measures, and basic carpentry tools to aid in installation tasks
- Use power tools safely for tasks like trimming, padding installation, and minor framing or carpentry work related to flooring projects
- Help with the removal of old flooring materials and prepare subfloors for new installations
- Follow plans to ensure precise placement of carpets and related materials
- Maintain a clean work environment by organizing tools, disposing of debris, and ensuring safety protocols are followed at all times
Requirements
- Prior construction or remodeling experience preferred; familiarity with residential carpentry or flooring installation is a plus
- Proficiency with hand tools such as utility knives, pry bars, tape measures, and screwdrivers
- Experience with power tools for woodworking or framing is advantageous
- Knowledge of construction site safety practices, including power tool safety and proper handling of heavy materials
- Physical ability to lift heavy rolls of carpet or flooring materials repeatedly throughout the day
- Strong attention to detail with excellent teamwork skills; reliable and punctual attitude
