Position Summary
Food Service Worker I is responsible for supporting dining facility operations through serving line support, warewashing, sanitation, dining area cleaning, and customer service functions at the Nevada Air National Guard Dining Facility (DFAC). Employees are expected to maintain a clean, safe, sanitary, and professional dining environment in accordance with Air Force and contract requirements.
Work schedule is one weekend per month.
Compensation - $21.55 per hour ($16.00 wage per hour PLUS $5.55 benefit allowance per hour worked)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Food Service Support
- Assist with setup and breakdown of serving lines, beverage stations, condiment stations, and dining areas.
- Replenish food, beverages, utensils, condiments, and supplies during meal service.
- Serve food to patrons in accordance with portion control and customer service standards.
- Maintain serving lines continuously during meal periods.
- Assist with salad bar monitoring and replenishment during operations.
- Support required serving throughput during meal service.
Warewashing & Kitchen Cleaning Duties
- Wash, rinse, sanitize, and store:
- Dishes
- Pots
- Pans
- Cooking utensils
- Serving trays
- Kitchen equipment.
- Clean and sanitize:
- Kitchen work areas
- Food preparation areas
- Serving lines
- Beverage stations
- Dining areas.
- Remove trash and properly dispose of waste throughout operations.
- Clean floor drains after meal periods.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation throughout assigned work areas.
Dining Area Cleaning & Customer Support
- Clean and sanitize dining room tables and chairs continuously during meal service.
- Restock:
- Napkins
- Condiments
- Salt and pepper
- Beverage supplies
- Dining utensils and related items.
- Ensure dining areas remain clean, organized, and customer-ready at all times.
- Provide courteous and professional customer service to all patrons.
Floor Care & Facility Cleaning
- Perform:
- Sweeping
- Wet mopping
- Damp mopping
- Spot cleaning
- Washing
- Vacuuming of carpeted areas.
- Maintain floors free from:
- Dirt
- Food debris
- Grease
- Standing water
- Dust and residue.
- Clean entrances, exits, sidewalks, walls, doors, and surrounding dining facility areas as required.
Restroom Cleaning Duties
- Clean and sanitize kitchen-area restrooms.
- Restock restroom supplies as required.
- Mop and disinfect restroom floors and fixtures.
Beverage Station Duties
- Monitor beverage dispensers, coffee urns, cappuccino machines, slushy machines, tea brewers, and ice machines to ensure:
- Cleanliness
- Product availability
- Proper operation throughout meal service.
Food Safety & Compliance
- Follow all:
- Air Force sanitation standards
- DAFI 48-116 Food Protection Program requirements
- AFMAN 48-147 Tri-Service Food Code requirements.
- Maintain proper personal hygiene and uniform standards.
- Wear required head coverings, uniforms, and safety attire.
- Report unsafe conditions or sanitation concerns immediately to supervisory personnel.
Performance Standards
- Facilities must be clean, sanitary, and free of dust, debris, odors, and stains.
- Floors should have a uniform, glossy appearance and be free of marks.
- Restrooms, kitchens, and reception areas must remain fully stocked and sanitary.
- Windows, carpets, and high areas must meet periodic service standards.
- Deficiencies noted by the COR must be corrected before the next scheduled service.
Qualifications
- Experience in food service, janitorial, cafeteria, restaurant, or military dining operations preferred.
- Must be authorized to work in the US.
- Must be able to gain access to military installation.
- Ability to work in fast-paced food service environments.
- Ability to perform physical cleaning and sanitation duties throughout shift.
- Ability to work as part of a team and follow supervisory direction.
Certifications & Training Requirements
- Food handler training required.
- Must complete:
- AT Level I training
- OPSEC training
- Government-required sanitation and safety training.
Work Schedule
- Primarily scheduled for:
- Saturday and Sunday drill weekends
- One weekend per month.
- Holiday meals, exercises, and contingency operations may require extended hours or additional shifts.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry food service supplies, trash, and equipment.
- Ability to work around cleaning chemicals, kitchen heat, and moisture.
- Ability to perform repetitive cleaning and lifting tasks.
Pay: $21.55 per hour
Work Location: In person
